Cherry Smoothie

Posted by on August 13, 2014 in Recipes

This cherry smoothie takes me back to the not-so-healthy days of my youth, when I would binge-eat all the chocolate-covered cherries from the yellow Wilton’s candy boxes. Harty enough to enjoy for breakfast, but still guaranteed to satisfy your cravings for a real treat at any time of the day, this cherry smoothie has it all! Add in raw cacao powder (chocolate powder) for an extra-special chocolatey twist!

Ingredients:

1 cup frozen cherries, pits removed

1 banana, peeled, cut into pieces and frozen

1 cup coconut milk, nut milk or filtered water

¼ cup raw cacao powder (optional)

1 tbs liquid sweetener (optional)

¼ tsp lemon juice (optional)

Pinch Himalayan or sea salt (optional)

Pinch vanilla bean powder (optional)

Instructions:

Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth, adding additional filtered water only if needed. Feel free to top the cherry smoothie with cacao nibs, raw granola, or raw nuts and seeds or mint leaves for visual interest and a bit of a ‘crunch.’ Enjoy immediately. Serves 2.
