If you are looking for a caffeine-free, unique and special treat while the weather is still a bit cool in the mornings, look no further! This rose latte is easy to make and all you really need to purchase is the rose water (if you don’t already have it), as the other ingredients you likely have on hand already. We recently made a visit to the Cypriot village of Agros and the The Rose Factory, where we picked up some organic rose water. Please be careful when consuming roses – they are often heavily sprayed with pesticides. Always look for organic, if available! This recipe calls for a plant-based milk as a base. You can make your own plain almond or cashew milk, for example, or use something else you have in your fridge. Ideally, use a milk without a strong taste, so the flavor won’t compete with the rose water (some soy milks, for example, leave a bit of an aftertaste).
Ingredients:
2 cups plant-based milk
1 tbs. date syrup, agave nectar or maple syrup
1 tbs. organic rose water
2 fresh strawberries
Pinch vanilla bean powder, or 1/4 tsp. non-alcoholic vanilla extract
Dried/crushed or fresh rose petals (optional)
Instructions:
Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. You can let this run in the blender for a few minutes to warm it, or pour it into a saucepan and heat it very gently, just briefly. Pour your rose latte in to two mugs or clear glasses and top with rose petals, if desired. Enjoy immediately. Serves 2.
